Greek Health Services Providers In Competition

Global Finance is the highest bidder in the tender for the sale of Euroclinic, sources said. Talks have advanced and within the next few days the deal could be struck. It remains uncertain whether Global Finance will buy the clinic in Romania as well, or if this will be sold to Athens Medical.

Euroclinics main shareholder, Dutch Eureco, aimed at concluding the deal by late June, however it did not succeed in doing so.

The three main private health services providers in Greece, namely Athens Medical, Hygeia and Euromedica search new ways to strengthen their position, first in the domestic market and then abroad.

Hygeia has announced it acquired the Evangelismos Hospital in Cyprus. The companys top priorit is developing primary health care services by creating two diagnostic centres in Attica. Furthermore, the company, which enjoys a high liquidity of 200 million euro, plans its moves abroad. Another 200 million could be raised through a bond loan.

Athens Medical is always in search of a strategy and this is why it keeps on postponing the disclosure of its business plan. The company has to decide on the use of its property in Peania and on its expansion policy abroad.

Euromedica continues its expansion in Greece, although it lacks a big unit in Athens.

The “three majors” also have an open eye for the Henri Dunant clinic which may be sold.
