Garganas Steps Down

The governor of the Bank of Greece, Nikos Garganas said Friday he will step down after his term expires on June 14.

"After 33 years of service at the Bank of Greece the time has come for me to withdraw from the leadership of the Bank of Greece," Garganas told journalists.

Mr Garganas also is a member of the Governing Council of the ECB.

No successor has been formally appointed yet, but it’s expected that Georgios Provopoulos, will be nominated for the position possibly as early as next week.
