Attica Bank Denies Talks With Proton Bank

The board of Attica bank meets today in order to approve the results of the first half of 2011, and propose the replacement of two board members representing TT Hellenic Postbank.

According to the bank’s administration, there is no issue on the agenda on a possible merger of Attica Bank with Proton Bank, a rumour that spreads often, but is denied officially by Attica Bank.

The president of the Bank, I. Gamvrilidis told that the administration of Attica Bank is in talks with institutional stakeholders about the future of the banking system but it has received no pressure to proceed with specific mergers.

“Obviously, in the reshaping environment, nothing can remain the same. We are open to all possibilities for the benefit of the bank and its shareholders. But nothing can be done under pressure, especially if there has been no contact or discussion, in this case by Proton Bank”, said the president of Attica Bank.
