Lomar Shipping Makes Super Deal

Logothetis family Lomar Shipping purchased a modern, 26 ship fleet from UK based Allocean in a $325 mil. deal.

Lomar, a subsidiary of the Libra Group, announced the acquisition of 26 modern ships today belonging to Allocean, ending days of speculation over the sale of the ships.

The fleet comprises of bulk carriers, container ships, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tankers, platform supply vessels (PSV), anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS), a chemical tanker and a products tanker, TradeWinds reported.

This purchase marks Logothetis re-entry in the shipping sector, after they sold a 67 ship fleet in 2004-2006.

The family then channeled the funds to investing activities in real estate, hotels, energy and aerospace leasing.
