Greek annual inflation rate fell 0.2 pct in March

The Greek inflation rate fell 0.2 pct in March this year after several months of increases, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

The statistics service, in a report, said that the consumer price index fell 0.2 pct in March after an 1.7 pct increase recorded in March 2017 and attributed this development to price declines of 0.8 pct in food/beverages, 1.7 pct in housing, 0.3 pct in clothing/footwear, 2.1 pct in durable goods, 0.3 pct in health, 0.1 pct in communications, 1.3 pct in entertainment and 2.2 pct in other goods and services. 

On the other hand, prices rose 6.1 pct in alcohol/tobacco, 0.8 pct in transport, 0.2 pct in education and 1.3 pct in hotel/restaurant/coffee shops.

The consumer price index rose 1.5 pct in March from February 2018, after an 1.8 pct increase recorded in the same period last year.

Greeces harmonised inflation rate grew in March compared with the same month in 2017, after an 1.7 pct increase recorded in the corresponding period in 2017/2016. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index grew 1.2 pct in February after an 1.4 pct increase recorded in 2017.
