Athens Stock Exchange to be closed on March 30 and April 2

The Athens Stock Exchange will be closed on Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2, due to the Catholic/Protestant Easter holidays observed in much of Europe. Bank branches will be open, but cannot provide all services to the public.

According to the Hellenic Banking Association, the Trans-European Automated Real-time Gross Settlement Express Transfer System (TARGET2) will be closed on March 30 and April 2, 2018, on Good Friday and on the second day of Catholic/Protestant Easter, respectively.

These days do not coincide with Greek holidays and therefore, according to article 11 of Law 3346/2005, are special days of interbank transactions and the provisions of this article will apply. Easter in the Greek Orthodox Church will this year be observed on April 8.

At these dates, banks branches will remain open, as they are working days for the employees. However, they will provide limited service to the public, since certain interbank transactions cannot be carried out when the TARGET2 system is not functioning.
